Studies and Teaching
The Chair of Automotive Engineering’s teaching formats comprise lectures, exercises, integrated lecture and exercise lessons, seminars as well as bachelor’s and master’s theses.
The courses are primarily aimed at students in the study program “Transport Systems” with a specialization in automotive engineering (construction, testing, calculation, safety). Nearly half of the students come from other study programs, such as mechanical engineering, industrial engineering and management, and teacher training in technical and scientific subjects. The courses offer students more than a purely technical or engineering perspective. Autmotive engineering, for instance, is embedded in an historical review, in the prevailing social environment, in future challenges and future traffic concepts. Car and environment, and also the car as a component in cross-linked traffic systems are issues that include the field of automotive engineering, but also transcend and integrate it.
