Automotive Engineering Test Center
In the Chair we have a large number of experimental testing facilities at our disposal. We work with different numerical simulation tools and use test vehicles with comprehensive measuring technology.
Crash-test facility
This hydraulic-driven facility can accelerate, on a 75m run-up track, a mass of more than 1100 kg regulated to 100 km/h (2000 kg to 72 km/h). Tests can be conducted with cars, small trucks, two-wheelers and support carriages. Frontal, rear and side impacts with all common barriers can be tested, as well as pedestrian and two-wheeler impacts. More information
Vehicle-in-the-Loop test stand
This highly dynamic Vehicle-in-the-Loop test stand (ViL) enables the examination, analysis and development of drive and chassis control systems and energy management concepts of present and future motor vehicles. With the ViL test stand, prototypical drive trains can be examined as well as complete test and series vehicles (VKM, hybrid and electric vehicles). More information
Vertical test stand
With the hydraulic 4-poster test rig, the vibration behavior of vehicles can be analyzed. It is possible to conduct objective and subjective driving comfort assessments or evaluate damping and suspension properties. Furthermore, chassis control systems can be developed and assessed. More Information
Steering test stand
The Steering-in-the-Loop test stand is suitable for the development and testing of all steering types within the motor vehicle range for all possible design-relevant loading conditions. The test stand “in-the-Loop” can be implemented by connecting it to the dSpace vehicle dynamics simulation program ASM. This enables automated, structured and very reproducible analyses of the steering in the whole virtual vehicle. More Information
Driving simulator
Through its faithful reproduction of both the vehicle cockpit and road test route, the static driving simulator enables the driver to experience driving behavior and steering feel at a very early stage of the product development process. More intormation
AICON system
AICON’s ProCam system serves as a spatial determination of the coordinates of individual points or the manual generation of point clouds. Among the advantages of the system are its very simple structure and measuring devices. More information More Information
Measuring vehicles
The chair has measuring vehicles with which all relevant transversally and longitudinally dynamic movement parameters as well as all input values of the driver can be registered. More information
Model vehicle
The 1:5 scale model vehicle is equipped with four-wheel hub motors, electro-mechanical steering and a real-time computer. The vehicle can be connected to a computer via ethernet. More Information
Model vehicle laboratory
Automated driving functions can be tested and optimized using the Chair’s test track for scaled vehicles (scale 1:10). The 10 x 10 m test track features level crossings, lay-bys, one long straight track and a double-bend. More Information
Fahrdynamiksimulation
TUBCarDynamics is a simulation tool implemented in MATLAB®/Simulink® for comprehensive vehicle dynamics analyses. Its main component is a module-based double-track model with centrally stored model and function libraries for vehicle sub-systems, such as chassis, steering, powertrain and braking system. More Information
Computer pool
CAD/CAE equipment for the development of component testing procedures, for the development of tools for a quick vehicle concept model design, for the development of MADYMO child dummy databases, passenger simulation as well as structural mechanics. More Information
